Subject: [fnf] 4.11 Meeting Minutes
To: ff-planners@fnf.org
Ok, so I was somehow corraled into taking the meeting minutes...Here's what happened at today's FnF meeting at Sameer's house...anyone who was in attendance should feel free to help me clarify any of the below points.
-The following were established as dates that Willits currently has
open for events:
7.3, 7.17, 7.31, 8.7, 9.18, 9.11, 9.25.
It was discussed that Harmony's party is on 8.11, and that we should
be aware of that in deciding the date for our event. Shortly after this,
all those who were in attendance agreed that 7.31 would be the best date
for our party.
-DJ Selection.
It was decided that the lineup would be discussed at the following
FnF planning mtg.
-Party Size.
Should this year's party be as big as last year's? Last year, there
were roughly 600 people at the party and that was a concern because many
people found it crowded and/or difficult to find adequate sleeping space.
400(not including staff) was thrown out as the maximum number of party
people allowed in this year. Everyone in attendance was ok was this.
Ticket distro last year seemed to go smoothly; we will probably use the same method this year.
-Music Duration.
Should this year's party have music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday?
Camp & Sons apparently werent too stoked on music all weekend long.
It was suggested that three days of music is a little...relentless, as
it were(what in the hell does that phrase, "as it were" mean?), and so
maybe we need to discuss alternative activities for Friday night in particular.
The following are some potential Friday night activities that were suggested:
Oyster Eating
Naked Downtempo Dancing
Movies(a la last year's attempted scheduled movie screening)
Whatever we decide on doing, in the interest in being nice to Camp & Sons, all activities should be finished by midnight.
-Finances. $5000 for the Camp & Sons location. In order to help pay this and other expenses we will incur, it was discussed that maybe staff members should be asked to pay the full admission price($20) just like everyone else. The debate ended when it was suggested that staff members not be obligated to pay $20, but that they pay $10 with the thought that a $20 contribution would be much appreciated as well, if they so chose to go that route. Sameer will call Camp & Sons this week to confirm price for the location. Who will take money to Camp & Sons? The deposit is half the total rental cost, $2500. Sameer and others have offered to put the money up for this. [Sameer update: Jon Stevens actually volunteered to front the cash.]
-Food. It will be served at the party. The kind of food will be decided upon at the next meeting.
-Eurotrash. They will not be tolerated; what with their remote fire setting antics; at the party.
AGENDA FOR THE NEXT MEETING
The next meeting has been tentatively set for 5.13.99, at Ethan's house.
The location is also tentative; Ethan will have to find out if Jenny will
be in the mood to show the new baby off! The following are action items
for the upcoming meeting:
-Budget for the event.
-Sound for the event.
-Staffing/Communications(who will do what and when, and with what cool
new devices?)
-DJ Lineup(Wayne will not be allowed to purchase any time slots!)
-Food(What kind? Are Oysters too "fru-fru" and "shee shee" to supply
to 400+ hippy ravers types?
-Tickets & Distro.
-Beer, Drugs & Intercourse(the theme for this years' party is "intercourse")
-Decorations(altar, sage, visuals, etc.)
-Friday Night Activities(what? how long? will oysters be involved?
Yohimbe as well?)
-Bouncy Castles(who invented them and why on this green Earth do they
continue to confound the human condition?)
-T-shirts(will we have FnF tees this year, or maybe some other FnF
emblazoned piece of utilitarian merchandise)
I believe that is all, y'all.
3 Strikes....
monty
Since that meeting, the following stuff was been hashed out on the list:
- Weekend of July 31st confirmed. Contracts are in the mail.
- Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. $5000
- Movie with music but not full on raving FOR STAFF ONLY on Friday.
- Music must be turned down after 2:00 am on Saturday !!!
- Drastically cheaper insurance available. ($250 vs. $650 yay.)
I have a call in to John Carel to confirm Gateway involvement, sound
etc. [Later: Mr. Carel et al. are down, down, down with the gig,
gig, gig.]
