How To Be An FnF Gate Hardass
Here's what you need to do:
-
Know that some of these rules are ours, some are set by the
space owners, and all these rules are to protect the space.
If people start taking it personally, tell them that it's not personal,
it's just what we need to do to make this party happen at all.
-
If you have to turn someone around, it's going to be a big
bummer, but remember that all these rules were well known long before the
party... if someone claims not to have known, that's their problem.
Turn them around compassionately but firmly. (Don't apologize; you
have nothing to apologize for.) If they get weird, contact the SC.
-
If cops show up, or something else very odd happens, contact
the SC.
What's the deal Friday night?
-
NO DOGS. Cars with dogs in them get turned around.
-
Anyone on the staffing sheet, plus their SO, gets in free.
-
Anyone with tickets, who arrives in the same car with a staff
member, must make a $10 camping fee contribution per person (all camping
fees go straight to the site owners, the Camps). FnF is keeping $5
of this to pay for extra insurance that just got demanded at the last minute.
-
Other cars of ticketed people must make a $10 camping fee
contribution per person if they really want to stay Friday night, but we
STRONGLY discourage that. Give them a "directions
to KOA campground" sheet if they don't want to pay or don't have the
money.
-
NO CARS WITHOUT TICKETS. If no one in the car has a
ticket, turn them around. No campground directions for them, since
they won't be let in tomorrow either.
-
Punch all tickets! Even staff tickets!!!
-
The reason for the fee is that the site owners really don't
want the place overrun on Friday night, and FnF crew is big to start with.
The camping fee is not FnF's idea but is the only way to make it right
with the owners.
Who gets turned around Saturday?
-
NO DOGS. Cars with dogs in them get turned around.
-
NO CARS WITHOUT TICKETS. If no one in the car has a
ticket, turn them around.
-
If some people in the car have tix, and some don't, AND there
are extra tix at the door, then the ones without tix can pay $20 to buy
one of the door tix. If there are no extra tix at the door, GAME
OVER, MAN... turn them around. If they want to drop off some people,
that's up to them, but the car must not get past the gate;
they have to drop off the ticketed folks then and there, with their stuff,
and then drive the ticketless folks away.
-
ONLY LOCALS ON THE LIST GET IN. There will be a list
naming friends of Walter and Jane who are to be let in. Anyone claiming
to be a friend of theirs who is not on the list does not get in.
-
God only knows what is up with the will call list... hopefully
it is way short.
What do you do with the ticketed, good-to-go cars?
-
Welcome them! They're awesome! Woohoo!!!
Get their experience off to a groovy start!
-
Punch all tickets.
-
NO UNLOADING. The goal is to get the cars to the parking
lots ASAP. No one gets to park right near the front, stroll off with
their stuff, and come back later. If they make a huge hassle out
of it, tell them that they cannot leave their car; the most they can do
is unload a pile of stuff, leave someone with it, and then park the car
before
going to set up camp.
-
Tell everyone that they will need to be on the road around
noon, and that everyone has to be off the site by 3 pm sharp.
No ins and outs on Sunday; you leave, you're gone.
-
Point them in the right direction towards parking (using
the parking site map); you know which parking lot to aim them at because
you are in communication with the parkers :-) Tell them to park as
close together as they can, as far towards the back of the lot as they
can.
And thank you, just for being you!
